[King Of The Ring Finals]: Chris Benoit made Hollywood Hogan submit to the Crippler Crossface in 0:12:04. Rating: ** 1/2 Click here to see highlights. Card rating: ** 3/4 Match observations: What a surprise ! It turned out that Ric Flair's mystery opponent was none other than Arn Anderson, which left everyone involved in a state of shock. WWF officials certainly outdid themselves this time around. Actually, when you think of it, Anderson was the only logical choice. He just came off losing the WWF World Title to Vader and thus deserves a rematch more than anyone else. Just imagine the look on Anderson's face when Ric Flair gave him a low blow en route to advancing to the King of the Ring semi-finals. After the match ended, Arn Anderson did what nobody would have ever thought he'd do: he broke away from the Four Horsemen in style - by leaving Flair laying with the DDT. As if that wasn't sensational enough, in Ric Flair's semi-final against Hollywood Hogan, Chris Benoit came to ringside and - get this - DDTed Flair outside the ring, thus enabling Hogan to advance to the finals. Do you see a pattern already ? Then Chris Benoit, coming off of the biggest win of his career - making the Four Horsemen's Undertaker submit to the Crippler Crossface - battled and managed to defeat Hollywood Hogan with the Crossface in the finals of the King of the Ring. Who do you think was the first man to come into the ring and congratulate Benoit ? Exactly... "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson ! Shortly after that, Brian Pillman and Dean Malenko hit the ring to congratulate Chris Benoit. Arn Anderson then announced the formation of the New Four Horsemen consisting of Benoit, Pillman, Malenko and himself !! You can rest assured Ric Flair also has a major announcement forthcoming. In another strange turn of events, Bret Hart saved Dean Malenko's IC title reign by interfering in his match against the Great Muta. Malenko was disqualified for outside interference, and he didn't like it one bit. He confronted Hart and the two almost came to blows until Brian Pillman and Davey Boy Smith calmed down the situation. Vader surprisingly kept the WWF World Title with relative ease beating Steve Austin. When you look below the surface, it really isn't that surprising anymore. Vader came off of an easy match in which he beat Arn Anderson for the title, while Austin had a long and taxing match with Diamond Dallas Page only two days ago. In any case, Chris Benoit will get the shot at Vader at SummerSlam.
