Rating: **** 1/2 (Chris Benoit retained the WWF World Title.) Click here to see highlights. Card rating: *** 3/4 Match observations: What a match it was ! Chris Benoit retained the WWF World Title against the man who nobody thought could be beat after his stellar performance in the Royal Rumble starting out and ending up winning. Steve Austin was in a class of his own tonight but Benoit was confident coming into the match with the big win over Dan Severn under his belt. No excuses from Austin though... Benoit was the better man tonight. Rob Van Dam was his old self again breaking every rule in the book en route to his victory over Kendo Ka Shin - who, BTW, was no saint either by any means. Al Snow is the new WWF Intercontinental champion. Hayabusa risked too much and ended up paying the price while Rob Van Dam fell victim to a vicious dragon suplex onto a chair by Snow. If one thing's for sure, these three men will keep dueling for a long time to come. Their hard-hitting style is the future of wrestling. Speaking of "future"... Rick Steiner's future seems very bleak at the moment. Steiner sustained multiple injuries to his neck and spine in the tag team title match courtesy of four enzuigiris by Toshiaki Kawada followed by a backdrop driver and ending with Masahiro Chono's STF. He told Steve Williams he was going to find a worthy replacement for himself. I may be wrong but Williams had a very disgusted look on his face... Rick Steiner's future isn't the only one in doubt, BTW. Kevin Nash aka Diesel got the news earlier today that he was going to need reconstructive ankle surgery which will keep him out at least for the remainder of the year - maybe even longer. Nobody really was surprised by Vader's abysmal showing in his Brawl For All match against Ken Shamrock. How do you think you'd fare in a boxing match if you had a torn biceps muscle ? Vader was the moral victor, though. He won the respect of Ken Shamrock who is desperately looking for a new tag team partner now that Dan Severn has ventured into the world of singles wrestling. It remains to be seen how long Vader will be out with his biceps tear and neck injury. It also remains to be seen what he thinks of Shamrock's offer. Maybe he'll just take Shamrock's head off next time he gets the chance - who knows ? Shawn Michaels has found redemption. He broke the chain and finally managed to defeat a Dudley after almost one year of chasing them and always coming up with the short end of the stick. Shawn Michaels is back and back in title contention ! Hollywood Hogan's challenge of the Undertaker came off as a joke, as did the title defense. It only took the Taker 33 seconds to put Hogan away... and probably for good. Still... challenging "each and every wrestler" in the WWF may have not been a good idea on the Taker's part... The WWF will be touring Japan for the first time in several years in the next week. When we return from the orient, we will bring a few guest stars from Japan with us to In Your House. Stay tuned !
